Otro verano se acaecerás y otro vez los apoyados del Tottenham se encuentran en una pugna por su estrella, Luka Modric. En una historia muy conocida a los aficionados de los spurs, el croata desea que se vaya del Tottenham después de una segunda campaña consecutiva sin una entrada al liga de campeones. El verano pasado presidente, Daniel Levy, y el técnico en ese momento, Harry Redknapp, luchaban por mantener el centrocampista de 26 años y según informes rechazaron una oferta de 40 millones de libras del Chelsea, lo que reforzó su deseo de conservarle. Sin embargo este año el Tottenham se encuentra en una situación muy diferente. Después de haberse perdido en la calificación de la liga de campeones, Harry Redknapp fue despedido por Levy que no tiene un técnico todavía, aunque informes sugieren que el ex jefe de Chelsea, André Villas-Boas y el seleccionador de Francia Laurent Blanc son queridos por los spurs.


La incertidumbre alrededor del club ha causado más especulación que Modric se irá el Tottenham y hay rumores que dicen que el Chelsea y el Manchester United siguen estando interesados pero el Real Madrid de José Mourinho le quiere también.


El Tottenham parece dispuesto a permitir Modric que se vaya este verano, pero sólo si una oferta grandote se hace. Según informes, Levy escucharía a una cuota en la región de 35 millones de libras, con el Madrid siendo el destino preferido por Levy y Modric. Si informes recientes son creídos, Real Madrid esta hablando con el Tottenham sobre la estrella croata y un acuerdo que incluye dinero y unos jugadores ha sido propuesto por los spurs. Al parecer Levy ha demandado el defensor veterano Ricardo Carvalho y el centrocampista de Turquía, Nuri Sahin, además de 25 millones de libras, esto ha sorprendido mucha gente pero parece que Mourinho lo esta considerando. Aunque esta transferencia no parece probable, la adición de Sahin al equipo de los spurs sustituiría Modric y habría más dinero que el jefe nuevo gastaría en jugadores, no obstante un jugador de la calidad de Modric sería muy difícil reemplazar.


El perdido inevitable de Modric significa que un jefe nuevo no es la única prioridad para el Tottenham este verano, porque durante los últimos cuatro años ha sido importantísimo en su fútbol atractivo y su perdido quitará mucha creatividad del equipo. Las ofertas reportadas para la estrella del Swansea Gylfi Sigurdsson y el centrocampista del Sunderland Stéphane Sességnon sugieren que Levy esta buscando un reemplazo para Modric pero sin un técnico se esta convirtiendo cada vez más difícil.


Espera una campaña muy dura en la liga inglesa para quien se convierte en el entrenador del Tottenham, una campaña en la que las expectativas serán altas, como siempre, a pesar de la falta de Luka Modric.

Tottenham star Luka Modric has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

Another Summer Transfer Window approaches and yet again the White Hart Lane faithful find themselves in a fight for their star midfielder, Luka Modric. In a story all too familiar to Spurs fans, the Croatian wants out of the club following a second successive season without Champions League football. Last Summer Levy and then manager, Harry Redknapp, fought hard to retain the service of the 26 year old midfielder and reportedly turned down a bid of £40 million from Chelsea, reinforcing their desire to keep him.

 This year however Tottenham find themselves in a much different position. After missing out on Champions League qualification, Harry Redknapp was controversially sacked by Daniel Levy who remains without a manager, although reports suggest  ex-Chelsea boss André Villas-Boas and current France manager Laurent Blanc are being earmarked for the job. The uncertainty around the future of the club has only sparked more speculation that Modric will quit the club with returning interest from Chelsea and Manchester United but also José Mourinho's Real Madrid apparently making the Tottenham man his top summer target. 

Tottenham are seemingly willing to allow Modric to leave North London this summer, but only if a significant bid is made. According to reports, Levy would be willing to listen to a fee in the region of £35 million, with Real Madrid being the preferred destination for both Modric and Levy. If recent reports are to be believed the Spanish giants are in talks with Tottenham over signing the Croatian star and a player plus cash deal has been put forward by Levy. Levy has reportedly demanded veteran centre-back Ricardo Carvalho and the Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin in addition to a fee of £25 million for Modric which, although has surprised many, is reportedly under consideration by Mourinho. Although this transfer seems unlikely, the addition of Sahin to the Spurs squad would instantly replace Modric and still leave the new boss money for his own signings, either way a player of Modric's quality would prove difficult to replace. 

The inevitable loss of Modric means a new manager is not Tottenham's only priority of the summer, as for the past four years he has been instrumental in their much praised attractive football and his loss will take a lot of creativity away from the way the team play. Reported bids for Swansea's loan star Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sunderland's playmaker Stéphane Sességnon suggest that Levy is quickly looking for a way to replace Modric but without a manager it is becoming an increasingly difficult task.

A tough Premier League season awaits for whoever takes the reins at White Hart Lane, a season in which expectations will be high as always, even without Luka Modric.
